A group of remarkable women from the University of Kentucky gathered together at Dudley’s Restaurant Tuesday, June 20 for a special tribute to Coach Mickie DeMoss for leading the Kentucky women’s basketball to a “Season of Firsts."
Mickie DeMoss has formed a foundation to raise money for various groups as one way to give back to the local community. The group, called Mickie's Team, will be hosting a golf tournament August 29. The event will be a four person scramble, with prizes, lunch and special celebrity guests. The Funds raised will benefit the UK Center for Research on Violence Against Women. DeMoss was worried. Her four incoming recruits were in doubt. Academic issues, injuries, both threatened to diminish her 3rd ranked recruiting class since coming to Kentucky.
UK received its first verbal for 07-08 in Carly Morrow, a 5-11 guard from Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga. Carly averaged 14 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.2 steals this past year and was named first team Division II basketball team.
